PAYING OFF DEBTS
I think that I caught myself just in time. If I hadn’t somehow wised up, the way things were going I surely would have ended up being bankrupt. I was ever so close to being in over my head; my salary was barely able to cover the minimum monthly credit card payments. Luckily, I’m getting back a pretty decent tax refund this year and I’m going to put every single cent of it towards paying off my debts. It stinks that I won’t really be able to do what I would like with my tax return, but I’ve already squandered enough money to last a lifetime – that’s how I got into this predicament in the first place. At least I’m lucky enough to have had this option; I wasn’t quite to the point where I was behind on rent or car payments so they garnished my return. Once I’m through with this mess I’m going to make darn sure that I never let anything like this happen again – in the future, if I don’t have the cash to pay for something, then I don’t really need it that bad. I’ll be tearing up the credit cards that I have and then throwing away all of the credit card applications that come my way in the mail. The easiest way to not build up credit card debt is to not have any credit cards.
