LAWNMOWERS AND MONEY
My golfing skills are in bad need of improvement. I need a golf trainer, and I need one quickly if I want to beat all of my friends in our annual golfing contest. The only problem is that my parents do not have that kind of money to pay a person to help me play. I had long discussions with my parents about my situation, and believe me; they all didn’t help one bit. I mean, I can’t really blame my parents, but couldn’t they have given me better advice than to mow people’s lawns? Who were they kidding? I am a girl, and a small one at that, and how would I ever be able to lift and lug one of those lawn mowers up a hill of thick grass? But I had to do what I had to do, and when the time came right, I began my career of cutting my neighbor’s grass. With every heave and every push, I eventually made their lawn look as beautifully cut as a barber would do to his customers. When my neighbor gave me what I earned, I counted only fifteen dollars! That was nothing—there would be no way that I would be able to hire a golf trainer at this rate before our contest! I have hard work ahead of me, truly hard work indeed.
