CLEANING OUT

I am excited about going to the

Boston Red Sox

game with Joe but am worried about Donna. She seems so out of sorts. She was trying to do something nice by cleaning out closets for the elderly and ends up getting hurt by an unknown assailant. And I can’t help but wonder if there is someone from the Texas Holdem gang that is still on the loose. Today, when I went out to my car to go to the post office, someone had scrawled on my windshield “you are next!” I was really scared. I told my daughter to stay at college this weekend and asked Joe if he could stay over. I am starting to think that there was another member of the gang - a wife or girlfriend, that we missed. Although all of the people at the party were questioned and brought down to the police. Then I found out later, through Father Rich, that the Texas Holdem Gang, as they are now known, have one of the best criminal lawyers in the state! How did they afford that? I didn’t want to worry anyone else with this information so that is why I blogged about it. I think this is bogus that they can’t catch the guy who hit Donna in the head and the person who put lipstick on my car. I am looking over my shoulder when I go out and am thinking of getting my own tazer. Mrs. Murphy still has my tazer. And not for anything but Donna wants it back. I am gong to get her one. I am sure that Father Rich will know where I can pick up this weapon.

UTILIZING TECHNOLOGY

Sometimes there is just no help for some people. They have their own ideas about how things should be. Like good old Jennifer. She just had to have her way yesterday when we were trying to decide what to do with all those old CD’s. The CDs were used for storage of all our research for the articles were wrote. We thought we would eliminate collecting one CD after another by finding out more about using

online data storage

methods. It sure would be more convenient that always searching for a CD and finding that someone else is using it, or that they have it with them on the road. I think we will have to convince her that majority rules. We are tired of having CD’s misplaced and sometimes even having to re-create files because we can’t find the CD that holds the original data. Online storage might be just the thing to solve that problem. And, everyone would have access to the files anytime they needed them, and would not have to necessarily be in the office to do their work. Jennifer is just set in her ways and she has always been very hard to convince that change can be a good thing.

ENGINEERS

Once I turned 18, I worked every summer off from college at a water plant.  Generally, I was an office worker or a laborer.  Mostly, I just did whatever was needed.  Clean and polish.  Sweep gutters.  Help with the sidewalk cleaning.  Take out the garbage.  Things like that.  Of course given that I worked for a government bureaucracy, there wasn’t really that much work to be done.  On a really busy day, I probably ended up doing only about an hour and a half of actual work.  I’d spend most of the rest of the rest of the workday just making it look like I was doing work.  I wasn’t alone.  Everyone at the plant from the engineers to the laborers to the office workers all did the same thing.  You would get the odd office worker who had nothing to do themselves so they would go out of their way to make you were doing something.  They’d watch and scrutinize you and report to your supervisor if they thought you were slacking off, which they were since they had better things to do than follow me around.  One strange women even used to set traps in the bathroom to make sure you went in there and cleaned.

REPAIRING HARD DRIVES

I had absolutely no idea that data recovery services could do all of the things that I see them offering these days.  I had heard of companies that take and repair hard drives of laptops and desk top computers, but I was amazed at some of the things that some of these companies offer.  When the memory of my I-pod got deleted I just searched the internet to see if I could find any information, I didn’t really think that I would find anything – it was just a last ditch effort.  I stumbled upon a service that can not only restore the drives of media players, but they also claim to be able to perform recovery services on digital camera memory cards, cell phone sim cards, external USB drives, flash storage, CDs, DVDs and floppy disks.  You send them whatever needs to be restored; they inspect it immediately upon arrival and inform you whether or not they can perform the recovery. They claim that they can turn around virtually any job in just two or three days.  So I’ve sent them my I-pod and added the website to my favorites in case anything like this ever happens again.  If this service works as advertised I’m sure I’ll have a use for it at some point again in the future.

CAR RACE

I remember when I was younger, we used to have a car race with all of the kids in our neighborhood. Our street is on a hill, and the only rules were that it could not have a motor and you needed to build it yourself. Or at least build it with the help of your parents. My dad always used to help me build mine. He would buy a few sheets of machine aluminum and we would look at a bunch of different car designs and I would decide what I wanted my car to look like. He would cut out the sheets of metal, and attach the axles and wheels. My job was always to paint the car. The race day was always the day of our block party. It would be the race during the day, and then when it was over everybody would set up their tables for the block party. It was nice that way, because then everybody was together for the whole day. Looking back, I think it was really great that our neighborhood was so friendly. It was a nice, pleasant environment to grow up in. Plus some of my best friends were from my neighborhood.

WHITE HAT SEO

An SEO company takes into consideration how a search engine’s algorithms work and what people are searching for to increase a website’s relevance. They analyze a website’s coding, structure, and presentation to determine if there are any problems that are putting off search engine indexing. The SEO company may also include content on their website. They do this so the search engine spiders will pick up both the new and old content for a higher ranking. Optimizing the site also involves keeping the website accessible and appealing. SEO tactics could possibly be used in the development and design of a website due to the changes that occur to a websites HTML source code. Another SEO tactic that could be used can be considered “search engine optimization friendly”. This involves website designs, content management systems, menus, and URLs. To break it down further, SEO is divided into two categories: “white hat marketing” and “black hat marketing”. The search engines refer to white hat marketing as a good design where marketers’ work within the TOS of a search engine this technique encompasses extensive keyword research. Black hat marketing is referred to as taking extensive risks in exchange for receiving search engine market share.

ENDLESS PHONE CALLS

The joys of getting a new job are something only people like me can understand. I have a fear of staying in the same office for to long, and therefore attempt to change every couple of years. Just yesterday I found out I had gotten the job I wanted. I was always good at annoying people; my latest thing is collection harassment. This morning I came into the office excited to finally be doing something I know I am good at, professionally. The best thing was I was even getting paid for it. So as I sat down at my desk I scanned the names on my list of the unfortunate people that were up for harassment. The top few did not look to enticing, just the average human beings that were a little late on paying their phone bills. Then further down the list I spotted my victim, a Hollywood actor that owes a restaurant thousands of dollars. I decided to dial the number and try my luck. After a few rings I realized I probably did not have much hope in getting a response over here, my chances of anyone being home were very vague. My next victim was a women that owed over a million in credit card debts, there I was lucky enough to have someone pick up, not for long though. As soon as I identified myself the person on the other line hung up. So that was the way I spent an extremely successful first day at work!

TECHNOLOGY THESE DAYS

I feel really smart! My friend called me up and told me she was so glad I helped her do an online backup of some of her information. This morning when she went to use her computer and work on her web sites she discovered most of her information was gone. Apparently someone thought it would be funny to hack them. She says she's so grateful because she knows she didn't really lose any of the information. It will be really simple to put everything back the way it was. We started talking about who she thinks it is. She has a pretty good idea that it's her ex-boyfriend which neither one of us was really surprised about. It was a pretty bad breakup. There's really nobody else it could be. She has a small group of friends and he's the only one she knows of, aside from myself, who is really knowledgeable about computers. Plus I think he's the only one immature enough to do something like this. One of the reasons she didn't want to be around him anymore was because of the pranks he would pull. But luckily we both outsmarted him. I think he's going to be surprised when he visits her web sites again only to discover the information is back!

LAWNMOWERS AND MONEY

My golfing skills are in bad need of improvement. I need a golf trainer, and I need one quickly if I want to beat all of my friends in our annual golfing contest. The only problem is that my parents do not have that kind of money to pay a person to help me play. I had long discussions with my parents about my situation, and believe me; they all didn’t help one bit. I mean, I can’t really blame my parents, but couldn’t they have given me better advice than to mow people’s lawns? Who were they kidding? I am a girl, and a small one at that, and how would I ever be able to lift and lug one of those lawn mowers up a hill of thick grass? But I had to do what I had to do, and when the time came right, I began my career of cutting my neighbor’s grass. With every heave and every push, I eventually made their lawn look as beautifully cut as a barber would do to his customers. When my neighbor gave me what I earned, I counted only fifteen dollars! That was nothing—there would be no way that I would be able to hire a golf trainer at this rate before our contest! I have hard work ahead of me, truly hard work indeed.

NEW SKIN CARE

My uncle has never looked better since he went to the Chicago Laser Skin Resurfacing Clinic.  He got a skin peel there that erased all these lines and wrinkles on his face.  Now he looks 20 years younger.  I’m not kidding.  He’s middle-aged and now looks like he just graduated college.  Well, except for all that flab he has hanging off his waist and those flabby thighs.  But now because of that Chicago laser skin resurfacing he’s determined to get a gym membership and start going there as often as he can to get back into shape.  I believe him too.  Anyone that would go all out and get Chicago laser skin resurfacing is intent on changing his life.  Besides, getting a gym membership won’t cost nearly as much as getting the skin peel.   A Bally’s health club membership only costs 20 dollars a month, which is a lot cheaper than you’d get at a lot of these private clubs.  Those can run up to a few hundred a month.  Can you believe that?  But I’m pretty sure my uncle is going to go with Bally’s.  I’m even thinking of getting my own membership and working out with him.  I figure I can learn a lot from him.
